Kathryn flies high overseas, now focused on media career

Kathryn Greensill made the most of her student exchange opportunity in Europe - including some high-flying skydiving and paragliding -  but with graduation looming this month (Feb 16) she's keen to get some rubber on the road with her career plans.

The keen journalism student has done the right thing by taking up internships and short-term work opportunities in regional media organisations and is now seeking a more permanent role in media or PR.

She'll have the ideal chance to showcase her public speaking skills during the Rockhampton Graduation Ceremony (Feb 16), as she delivers a closing response on behalf of graduates.

Kathryn gained assistance from CQUniversity's International Student Exchange & Study Abroad office during her degree, arranging a program to study French language and communications at the Paris Graduate School of Management (PGSM).

She made the most of being in Europe, criss-crossing the continent to soak up the culture and sights in many countries. Another plus was the formation of fresh social networks.

"I made many valuable friends whilst over there and now have friends that I have been trying to keep in contact with all over the world, from throughout Europe to USA and Canada, Singapore and even closer to home in New Zealand, Sydney and the Gold Coast. I feel that many of these people will become lifelong friends and I hope to get the chance to visit at least some of them in the not too distant future.

"I was able to see some of the incredible monuments and architecture that is unlike anything we have in Australia, since we are such a young country, from the cosy little graffiti-ridden streets of Milan in Italy to the impressively emotive murals that remain as a reminder of the time of the 'troubles' in Belfast in Ireland. I spent a lot of time on buses and planes and ferries, and became accustomed to living in close quarters with people that I had only recently met. My eyes were opened to the immense differences in cultures, not only between Australia and European countries but as to how things differ from Amsterdam to Paris to Rome."
