BIO details of Nicholas Chesla

Nicholas Chesla, MScJournalism New York, LLM Melbourne is an experienced editor, documentary film producer and award-winning Australian journalist, who has been based in New York City for the past decade specialising in business reporting.  For over 18 years, Nicholas has provided newsroom leadership in the print, online and broadcast media, including most recently as Editor-in-Chief and Managing Editor with The Bond Buyer, a 119 year old publication and a Wall Street institution.  This publication encompasses all aspects of the $2.7 trillion municipal bond market, which provides the cash needed to finance major public infrastructure projects such as construction of roads, bridges and airports throughout the United States of America.  From that vantage point, as early as
mid-2007 the paper identified and reported the very early signs of what later became known as the global financial crisis, or GFC, which led to the demise of several major investment banks and the almost complete annihilation of the United States bond insurance industry.

Earlier in his career, prior to joining The Bond Buyer, Nicholas worked as a writer and producer for news and documentaries in New York. In Australia he worked as a presenter for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.  Before beginning his career as a journalist, he spent several years practising as a lawyer in his home state of Victoria.
