Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Departing academic dubbed a good sport 

Dr Geoff Dickson leaves CQU Rockhampton this week with good wishes from many, including the triathlon and AFL sporting communities.

PhotoID:1179 Dr Dickson is known within CQU as a lecturer for the School of Health and Human Performance.

He has also developed a profile as a media commentator, AFL player and umpire, triathlon competitor and organiser and sometime marathon runner.

Dr Dickson leaves to take up a senior lecturer position at Auckland University of Technology, where he will head up the sport and recreation management program.

"Rockhampton has been very good to me. I arrived with one suitcase. I knew three people in Rockhampton. I leave with considerably more possessions including a wife and two teenaged kids," he said.
