CQU Graduates Eager to Mentor
Published on 25 November, 2002
Central Queensland University graduates who recently attended a workshop at the Gladstone campus said they were eager to get involved in a student-mentoring program.
Head of Campus, Associate Professor Robert Prater said the student mentoring idea was just one of many that came from the workshop.
“The campus is currently in the process of consulting with the community to identify our strengths, opportunities and areas of possible improvement. “The feedback we gain from these sessions will help us with the development of our Strategic Plan (2003 – 2008).
“The former students (alumni) who attended the workshops were very motivated to see an active charter of the Alumni formed in Gladstone and are hoping to get started on a number of projects and social functions in the near future,” said Mr Prater.
Mr Prater said the graduates were particularly interested in initiating the mentoring program for undergraduate students.
Mr Prater said an alumni involved in the mentoring program would be linked with a current student studying in a similar field. The graduate would also offer their guidance and possibly offer practical experience, opportunities for research, project work and an introduction to their professional network.
CQU graduates currently living in the Gladstone region are encouraged to get involved by contacting Shannon Law at CQU on 4970 7247.
