Student nurse survival guide now in European pockets

CQUniversity nursing academics Dr Lorna Moxham, Dr Kerry Reid-Searl and Dr Trudy Dwyer originally prepared their 'Student Nurse Survival Guide' as a local teaching tool...

A few years ago, they were delighted when Pearson Education published it as a tool for nurses around Australia and now specialised versions (with specialty guest authors) have been added to the range.

Then came a translation into Dutch for the Netherlands market and the most recent version has been prepared for nurses in the United Kingdom.

Now that tens of thousands of nurses have the little guides in their pockets or around their necks on a lanyard, the Rockhampton-based trio are moving into a second edition.

They explained the format was perfect for nurses in clinical situations as it was pocket-sized, spiral-bound for easy reference and able to be hygenically wiped in case of body fluid splashes.

Dr Dwyer said the guide aimed to save nurses time in urgent situations and, as such, it may have even helped to save lives.
