Top American science author was enthusiastic visitor

Central Queensland University showcased the wide array of science careers and new technologies in Rockhampton to celebrate National Science Week, held August 18 - 26.
Among highlights of the celebrations were 2 presentations by Dr Jack Bacon, an internationally renowned scientist, and one of America's most requested guest speakers.
Marketing Officer for the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering & Health, Amelia Tomlinson, said CQU was proud to bring an internationally renowned guest speaker to the CQ region.
"Dr Bacon is an award winning author and has had an extensive career in various roles in the development of cutting-edge science technologies. We were excited to offer the community an opportunity to participate in this nationwide celebration of achievements and capabilities in science," Ms Tomlinson said.
Dr Bacon's topic for National Science Week was the 'Parallel Bang', discussing the history and impact of science, the pace of invention and technology and why it is faster today than it ever has been before.
The visit by Dr Jack Bacon was arranged in association with the Australian Science Festival and is an initiative of the Australian Government.
