Recovery Strategies for Athletes

Athletes looking to gain an edge over the competition can find out more about recovery strategies from a Central Queensland University human performance expert this week.

Head of the School of Health and Human Performance Dr Peter Reaburn will talk on "Realistic Recovery Strategies for Athletes" on Wednesday.

"All athletes train hard to improve performance. Smart athletes train hard and recover harder," Reaburn said.

During the talk Reaburn will discuss "real-world" recovery strategies that can be included into any athlete's daily routine and training program.

Reaburn, an exercise physiologist and masters athlete, will look at the benefits of recovery from a practical and theoretical perspective.

The lecture is the third in the Inaugural Public Lecture Series for CQU's Faculty of Arts, Health and Sciences.

All interested members of the public are welcome to the talk which will be introduced by national-level cycling coach Ken Tucker at CQU's North Rockhampton campus in Building 29 from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, May 15.

Dr Reaburn is available for immediate interview. For details phone Ayesha Gottschleigh at CQU Community Relations on 07 4923 2506.
