Social work and welfare students can apply for scholarship

Anglicare Central Queensland and CQUniversity have joined together to provide a high achieving 3rd year social work or welfare studies student with up to a $2000 scholarship.

The scholarship will assist students of high ability and potential to pursue studies in the field.

The scholarship is available to a CQUniversity student entering their 3rd year of study in the Bachelor of Social Work program ($2000 scholarship) or a Bachelor of Arts (Welfare Studies) program ($1000 scholarship).

The successful recipient will be required to conduct practicum at Anglicare CQ.

CQUniversity's Director of Development and Graduate Relations Suzi Blair is excited to continue the partnership with Anglicare CQ.

"It is very encouraging to have such active support for our students from a prominent local organisation such as Anglicare CQ," Ms Blair said.

"Scholarships make a significant impact on a student's ability to succeed at university.  Combine that with the mentoring Anglicare is offering and you have a very beneficial opportunity for our students."

Anglicare CQ's Chief Executive Officer Philip Shade said he was pleased to work with CQUniversity in offering the Anglicare scholarship to foster links between the organizations and support the development of learning in the social services field.

"We look forward to the scholarship recipient working with us to develop an aspect of our service and in turn we both benefit from the learning and experience gained and shared."

Since the turn of the century, Anglicare CQ has provided care to the community across the greater Central Queensland region.

Spread across 12 offices, Anglicare CQ's 200 employees and numerous volunteers provide much needed housing, disability services, mental health support, child protection and youth services across a 600,000 sq km territory.

Applications open in November and close December 1.
