Academic achievement rewarded at Bundaberg

The academic achievements of 33 Bundaberg residents were applauded at last week's Awards and Prizes Ceremony at CQUniversity Bundaberg.
Professor Phillip Clift, Head of Campus CQUniversity Bundaberg, said more than 120 people attended the very successful event.

"I appreciate the support from business and other organisations in recognising the academic excellence of our students".
Among the prizes awarded were the Bundaberg Distilling Company Environmental Science Prize, Bundaberg Business Women's Network Prize, CQUniversity Nursing Prize, Anglicare Central Queensland Prize, Bundaberg Region Tourism Award and Queensland Alumina Prize.
Accounting student Diane Laughlin's amazing academic achievement earned her 4 prizes at the ceremony, while 19-year-old Science student Zane Crispin was also awarded with 4 prizes.
CQUniversity lecturer Dr Wendy Madsen won the Bundaberg Campus Award for Excellence in Research - Established Researcher; while CQUniversity lecturer Susan Alexander won the Bundaberg Regional Council Award for Excellence in Research - Emerging Researcher.

The ceremony also featured the inaugural lecture by Professor Philip Brown, Foundation Chair in Horticultural Science, who discussed ‘Rocket Science' - referring to the type of lettuce not space research.
