Cinderella set to enchant children and adults alike

The timeless enchantment of a magical fairy tale will soon sweep through Mackay with the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music’s (CQCM) production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella.

A show for young and old alike, the CQCM production is based on the traditional story of Cinderella and her wicked step sisters, but this time it has been given a distinctly Australian flavour as we recall our own Princess Mary of Tasmania and her Cinderella like transformation into a Princess of Denmark.

PhotoID:2880 The production will include magical lighting designs created by CQCM lighting designer Liam Fitz-Gibbon, along with some digital magic devised by Senior Lecturer in Multimedia Studies at CQU, Dr Steven Pace. These ‘magical’ touches are sure to delight the audience as Cinderella’s pumpkin is transformed into an elegant coach before their very eyes.

Directed by John Wregg, one of Australia’s most experienced and versatile opera directors, and featuring the talents of CQCM Bachelor of Music Theatre students Cilla Slack, as Cinderella and Jason Miller as Prince Charming, the CQCM production of Cinderella will be a fairytale full to overflowing with romance and delight.

Originally written for television, Cinderella aired in New York in 1957 and starred Julie Andrews. This delightful musical, as adapted for the stage, will bring warmth and humour to the audience, and the hearts of children and adults alike will soar when the glass slipper fits.

PhotoID:2881 Cinderella is a parade of charming characters, unforgettable songs and vibrant costumes which will leave the audience enchanted all over again.

This is a wonderful way to end to the school holidays, so whether you’re young or old; this beautiful production is not to be missed.

Show times are: Thursday April 20, 10am & 8pm, Friday April 21, 10am & 8pm and Saturday April 22, 2pm and 8pm.

For bookings and information please phone the CQCM on 4940 7801.
