More than 3000 under 8s, parents and teachers converged on the Rockhampton Botanic Gardens for a day of educational play on Friday...

From building with cardboard boxes to creating collages and from easel painting to jewellery making, children were flooded with opportunities. There was loads of musical entertainment and the police and fire service treated the children to a peek inside their vehicles.

CQUniversity's Gillian Busch said Romp in the Park was organised by 11 CQUniversity students - an amazing effort for the students.

She said the students had been preparing for the event since the first week of term.
