"July is increasingly becoming a more popular time for new students to engage with us....  Midterm offers now account for a quarter of our annual commencing student activity," said CQUniversity Vice Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman.

"We're making more programs available by Distance Education in July than we have in the past. That's making CQUniversity more accessible to new students," explained Professor Bowman.

CQUniversity is offering more than 40 undergraduate programs (or about 80% of all of its undergraduate programs) by Distance Education at midyear. Term 2 started this week.

Offers to new students studying on-campus were up, too, by approximately 25%.

In Bundaberg, Aviation, Business and Accounting programs were popular in Term2. Qualified Mackay applicants showed interest in Learning Management, Business and Accounting, and Biomedical Sciences. In Rockhampton it was Psychology, Arts, Multimedia and Business and Accounting. Business and Accounting were popular as well among Gladstone applicants. More than 30 people were made offers to study Learning Management in Noosa, the first time it's been offered there in mid-term.

"We've made 4000 domestic undergraduate offers to study in 2010 to date. That's more activity than we've seen since 2005. And with new programs and degrees on the way early indications are that offers and enrolments for 2011 will remain very strong," added Professor Bowman.

CQUniversity is currently accepting enquiries for enrolments in Term 3 2009, which starts 1 November, and T1 2011, which starts next March. New programs planned for 2011 include Paramedical Science, Medical Imaging, Medical Sonography and Law.
