Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Whitsunday Anglican School wins Science Week trophy 

Whitsunday Anglican School won Mackay\'s National Science Week Year 10 Science Quiz trophy on Tuesday evening. Seven teams of three students from Clermont, Mackay Christian College, Pioneer and Whitsunday Anglican School competed for the trophy at Central Queensland University.

PhotoID:1115 The Science Quiz was the final event in ‘Your Future is SET’ program which included a full day of science, engineering and technology based activities.

Event co-ordinator Vivien Clift expected the activities would help students make informed choices about their subject selection for their senior years of study.

“The students really enjoyed the rotational activities that exposed the students to options available in subjects such as physics, chemistry, biology, environmental science, health, information technology and multi-media,” she said.
