Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Campus leaders recognised at Fiji graduation 

Bachelor of IT student Salanieta Tuiloma and MBA student Venkataramana Gundamaraju received the Campus Director's Award for Leadership during this week's (Monday) CQU Fiji graduation ceremony in Suva.

PhotoID:3727 Sala has been characterised by her lecturers as an excellent student, setting high standards in her work, having exemplary attendance records, and taking great care with assignments and meeting deadlines.

Sala has achieved her excellent results through sheer dedication and hard work. Giving talks to new students at the Academic Preparatory Course was one of the ways she assisted campus staff and new students.

Ramana has successfully met the challenge of Master of Business Administration and came through with excellent grades.

He has proven to be a very effective communicator, and showed great determination and aptitude, regularly earning grades of Distinction and above.

Ramana displayed a genuine concern for fellow students through mentoring and academically assisting anyone who showed a need.

He is also a very capable figure in the business community and has already been earmarked for senior leadership roles in his organisation.

The ceremony was held at the Tradewinds Convention Centre in Suva.
