Lecturer presents update on cyber crime

School of Business & Informatics law lecturer Eric Holm presented a paper at the Emerge 2007 Conference in Brisbane on behalf of Central Queensland University.
Mr Holm addressed leading academics, industry leaders and practitioners on issues regarding cyber crime and its impact upon human capital.
In his short presentation, entitled ‘cyber-crime: the threat to human capital' Mr Holm discussed the issues of cyber crime that have emerged through new technologies.
Mr Holm, who is based at CQU Rockhampton, described how changes in information technology challenge human capital at both an organisational and individual context.
He discussed the measures that are presently being used to protect against cyber-crime. He concluded his presentation with some recommendations for further development of measures to enhance computer security.
For the past few years, Mr Holm has been undertaking research in this area. Prior to coming to Central Queensland University, he worked at Griffith University and the University of Sunshine Coast.
The conference involved the presentation of scholarly papers and cutting-edge research into policy regarding human capital.
The event was a showcase of people/human capital-related research and policy ideas from a range of disciplines.
