The Trial Audit was conducted on March 30-31 and April 1as part of CQU’s preparation activities for the AQUA Audit later this year.

The Trial Performance Portfolio, submitted to the Trial Auditors, was prepared using the reports from the Self Review which was conducted at the end of 2004, and other organisational reports.

The Trial Auditors based the audit upon the Trial Performance Portfolio, and tested its validity through interviews. Where necessary they requested further written evidence.

A report of the Trial Audit is expected to be received in April. After consideration by senior executive the report will be made available for the information of staff.

A major revision of the Trial Performance Portfolio will occur during April and May prior to submission to the June meeting of Council for endorsement and submission to AUQA in July 2005.

AUQA expects that within an institution, there should be a broad understanding of and commitment to the Performance Portfolio.

The more forthright the Portfolio, the less there is for the audit panel to discover during the audit, and the more the audit can focus on verification and validation.

During the Trial Audit debriefings, staff suggested improvements and amendments regarding the Trial Performance Portfolio.

These constructive comments are valued and will be considered during the revision. Further, staff input and feedback to the revision is welcomed.
