Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Cyclists put pedal to the metal for charity 

Cyclists of all ages are encouraged to take part in the Bike4Life on Sunday August 1.

Starting and finishing at CQUniversity Sports Centre, Bike4Life is a community cycling event which is geared to raise funds and awareness for the Sporting Wheelies and the Amy Gillett Foundation - a bike safety organisation.

Four separate riding routes will be available to participants including:

  • 100km event for adults over 18 years - Emu Park-Yeppoon circuit - starts 6.30am
  • 60km event for over 16 years - Cawarral circuit - starts 8.30am
  • 25km for over 13 years - North Rockhampton circuit - starts 10am
  • 5km for kids and adults of all ages - University grounds circuit - starts 10.30am

It is anticipated all events will be completed by 11.30am.

CQUniversity is a major sponsor of the event alongside the Rockhampton Cycling Club, Capricorn Bicycle Users Group, Rockhampton Regional Council, SES and Queensland Main Roads.
