Bundaberg students catapault into challenges

Around 120 students from high schools in the Bundaberg region have taken part in this year's Science and Engineering Challenge hosted by CQUniversity...
Students assumed the role of medieval engineers as they engaged in high-level design challenges, including the construction of a working catapault.

Other activities on the day included construction of an eco-habitat and an ‘Escape from the Lost World' challenge, where students designed transport that could be automatically guided through a maze.
CQUniversity lecturer Rosie Thrupp, who hosted the day in conjunction with her Bachelor of Learning Management students and Dean Clarke from Jaycar, said:
"It was a thrill to see so many students totally engaged and working collaboratively on fun projects. The students really enjoyed the experience."
CQUniversity will again look to host the challenge in 2010. For more information on how your school or business can be involved, contact Rosie Thrupp on (07) 4150 7116.
