Emerald gathers to celebrate new brand

Emerald community members recently gathered at the Emerald Jockey Club Members' Lounge to celebrate the official launch of the new branding of CQUniversity Australia.

It was in 1989 that the then Capricornia Institute of Advanced Education established a campus in Emerald, located at TAFE.

Over the years, the University has had a number of name changes and the Emerald Campus has also been relocated to the Australian Agricultural College.

The recent event celebrated the past as well as marking a new era that is highlighted by a new look and logo. This new image comes with a slight variation of name - CQUniversity Australia.

Professor Rickard, Vice Chancellor and President explained how the brand makeover follows 2 years of significant administrative and functional overhauls at the University.

Mrs Gai Sypher, Emerald Campus Coordinator, spoke about the new branding creating an opportunity to grow and expand at a local level.

She encouraged those present to be proud of the fact that Emerald had an ag college, a TAFE college and a university campus.

She urged the locals to fight to protect the educational resources at their fingertips.  She then opened a forum directed towards the future of CQUniversity Emerald Campus.

A number of graduates who were present took advantage of this opportunity and directed questions to Professor Rickhard, regarding the future direction of Emerald Campus and also made suggestions about how to address the issue of declining student enrolments.

Other dignitaries present on the evening were Professor Jennelle Kyd, Pro Vice Chancellor Research and Innovation, and Neil Butler, Director of Marketing.
