From day care to high school, educators keen to improve behaviour management

A total of 85 teachers from day care through to high school year levels attended the recent 'Childwise' conference at CQUniversity Bundaberg, featuring keynote speakers Anne-Marie and Gary Ezzo.

University lecturer and event organiser Dr Rosie Thrupp said the event celebrated the production of a new professional learning package for teachers called 'Teachers being Childwise', developed in partnership between CQUniversity's School of Education and Peirson Services with the Ezzos.

"The conference focussed on aspects of behaviour management, an issue which continues to challenge teachers and educators generally. It also provided input to the general capabilities to be considered within the new Australian curriculum that comes into being in Queensland schools in 2012," Dr Thrupp said.

"The conference aimed to challenge teachers and educators to reflect upon moral and social responsibility, working with habits of heart and habits of the mind."

Teachers attended for breakfast on the Sunday morning to hear Gary Ezzo speak of his global work in relation to parenting and social responsibility - 'On Becoming Childwise'. 'Teachers being Childwise' has built upon these concepts in the school and classroom contexts.
