Animation focus of new course
Published on 30 August, 2004
CQU Informatics and Communication students will be able to ‘interact with animation’ in a new course developed by CQU School of Contemporary Communication staff for 2005.
‘Interactive Animation’ utilises Macromedia Flash, which is currently one of the most popular development environments for interactive multimedia both online and offline. Flash is also widely used for online application development and streaming video delivery.
Multimeda Lecturer Grayson Cooke said the course is structured as an introduction to designing, animating and programming with Macromedia Flash, and covers theoretical and artistic perspectives relevant to the production of interactive multimedia.
“While it will be offered officially next year as MMST12017, we are currently running a trial of the course as a Special Topic, open only to graduating IT and Multimedia students.”.
Mr Cooke said the course is being offered in FLEX mode and at most of CQU's Australian international campuses, and is proving to be a big success.
Mr Cooke developed the course in consultation with Senior Lecturer Dr Steven Pace, Head of School and Sub Dean of Mackay Campus Ashley Holmes, Lecturer Brendan Murphy and Senior Lecturer Phillip Roe.
