Vale Cyril Connell

Queenslanders have this week been mourning the passing of sports legend Cyril Connell, who also had a sterling career as an educator and was a strong advocate for our institution during its formative years.

Back in 2003, CQUniversity recognised Cyril's sporting and educational achievements with his admission to the degree of Honorary Doctor of Education.

In the field of sport, Cyril represented Australia in rugby league on 29 occasions and distinguished himself as a sports commentator with the ABC. His fame later grew as a renowned talent spotter for the Brisband Broncos.
