Central Queensland University's historians Associate Professor Steve Mullins, Dr Mike Danaher and Dr Barbara Webster displayed some of their recent research at a historical exhibition in Rockhampton on the weekend.

The exhibition titled, History! Live it!, allowed historical societies, collections, museums and associated groups from Rockhampton and the surrounding districts to feature some of their works and facilities available to the local community.

"The event attracted a good crowd of people keen to find out about and share local history," Dr Webster said.

CQU's historians featured their work with the Coastal CRC, where they have undertaken environmental history research on the Capricorn Coast, and answered lots of others questions posed by the public.

Assoc. Prof Mullins also gave a presentation on the Jardines, an influential local family who had connections with pearl-shelling in Torres Strait and the Netherlands East Indies.

Dr Webster said the event was very worthwhile with some inquiries coming forward about the Master of Letters program and the possibility of a collaborative research project.
