Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Leading director follows Yellow Brick Road to Sunny Mackay 

Leading Australian director and music theatre legend Nancye Hayes is taking time out from her Wizard of Oz project to spend August in the canefields.

PhotoID:212 Nancye is directing a student production of Kiss Me Kate, at Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music, which is adjacent to a sugar cane farm in Mackay.

Nancye was the original Australian lead in Sweet Charity in the late 1960s and went on to feature in most of the best known musicals over the next few decades.

She has branched out as a choreographer, director and teacher and has recently directed the latest Australian production of Wizard of Oz, which opens in Brisbane in November.

PhotoID:213 Nancye is likely to meet up with another Aussie music theatre stalwart, Toni Lamond, who is in Mackay on August 16 for a Morning Melodies production at the local theatre.
