Sydney Campus reps at Nepal Festival
Published on 19 September, 2008
CQUniversity Sydney representatives attended the 'Nepal Festival 2008 Sydney' recently (Sept 13) at Darling Harbour.
This event was jointly organised by the Embassy of Nepal, the Non-Resident Nepalese Association and the various organisations/associations of the Nepali community in Sydney.
Building the new brand
The festival was the biggest ever gathering of the Nepali community and local Australians with over 20,000 people attending the event.
The local artists, representing all regions of the country, genuinely reflected the theme of the festival, 'Celebrating Unity and Harmony in Diversity', with action through a variety of cultural items - dances, music, songs and fashion shows. These, together with the live concert by the popular AXE-Band from Nepal, helped enliven the environment throughout the day.
A rich combination of the Nepali food, handicrafts and information booths managed by various agencies also contributed, adding life to the event.
The CQUniversity stall was kept busy with visitors throughout the day receiving promotional T-shirts, caps, water bottles, pens, backpacks and notebooks and asking lots of questions about the campus and its programs.
Representing the University
CQUniversity students also visited and showed their support.
In keeping with the growing popularity of the festival among the Nepalis and Australians, and taking into account the positive impact of the festival on promoting goodwill, friendship and cooperation, Nepal Festival 2008 was also organised in Melbourne earlier this month.
