Lisa Becker (pictured) is a departing Bachelor of Learning Management degree(primary/maths/science specialist) student who was among speakers at BLM celebrations in Rockhampton's Quay Street this week.

Lisa is a fifth-generation teacher but developed this career path late after initially being enrolled in psychology and later accounting degree subjects, and after a job as a building industry accountant. She was among about 90 educators of the future feted in Rockhampton's heritage Quay Street before leaving to pursue their careers.

The leading cohort from Central Queensland University's cutting-edge Bachelor of Learning Management degree delivered their final group presentations on October 7 before relaxing with a sausage sizzle and listening to regional education leaders sing their praises.

The early childhood, primary and secondary school pre-service educators will take up appointments throughout Queensland in February next year.

They have completed a degree program featuring more classroom experience, more input from practicing teachers, more emphasis on community engagement and more focus on being managers of learning.

CQU Dean of the Faculty of Education & Creative Arts, Professor Jim Mienczakowski said the BLM was recognised for producing 'streetwise' educators, able to respond to the rapidly changing needs of the community, schools and workplaces.

The leading cohort of Rockhampton BLM students are among about 285 BLM students completing their studies at CQU study locations spread from Mackay to Noosa (including Gladstone and Bundaberg).
