Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Tabone family provides support for engineering student 

Brendon Harms from Bororen has been announced the winner of the 2009 Desmond Tabone Engineering Scholarship.

Brendon was presented with the scholarship at the recent Academic Prize and Scholarship celebration at CQUniversity Rockhampton.

he scholarship provides Brendon with a $3000 payment per year for a maximum of 4 years towards tuition and educational expenses.

"I am extremely appreciative of the scholarship and grateful to the Tabone family.  The funds have been extremely helpful towards the many costs associated with university studies, including setting up my lap top, text books, accommodation, and every day living expenses.  I can't thank the Tabone family enough."   

The Desmond Tabone Engineering Scholarship has been established by the Tabone Family in memory of their husband and father Desmond Tabone.
