Rocky hosts arts, science and health camp

Dozens of Year 10 students from throughout Queensland have converged on Rockhampton this week (August 22-26) to attend an arts, science and health camp.

CQU hosted the four-day camp incorporating workshops in the fields of social and welfare work, psychology, nursing, health studies, humanities, human movement science and occupational health and safety.

PhotoID:2434 The camp also gave students the chance to experience university life, as they stayed at the Capricornia College residential facility and were mentored by university students.

Participants earned scholarships to cover their expenses, based on an application process, which was offered to over 90 schools across Queensland. Forty students were selected from over 90 high quality applications.

Organiser Alex Bright said the visiting students completed a group project, which drew on the workshops they had attended throughout the week and which required them to draw on their teamwork and oral presentation skills.
