Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

State Development leaders visit Rockhampton

State Development leaders Mike Hefferan and Brian Anker and commercialisation expert Dr Rowan Gilmore visited CQU Rockhampton on Thursday, October 30, on their way to Friday's opening of Gladstone's Processing Engineering Light Metals (PELM) Centre.

Mr Hefferan is the Executive Director, Industry Development, for the Department of State Development. Mr Anker is Director of Technology and Service Industries within DSD. Dr Rowan Gilmore is CEO of the Australian Institute for Commercialisation.

The trio met with representatives from the University, the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Systems, the Rail CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) and Centre for Railway Engineering, Plant Sciences Group and the Institute for Sustainable Regional Development.
