Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

COIN celebrates 1000th member 

CQU’s Faculty of informatics and Communications and Rockhampton City Council’s joint community project, the COIN Academy celebrated the signing of its 1000th member this week.

COIN is one of Australia's leading community based projects aimed at increasing the use of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) in the local community.

COIN has received national and international recognition for its innovative approach to ensuring that Rockhampton is not missed by the information age and that local businesses have an IT literate consumer base to support their online activities.

COIN provides free training to members of community groups and helps them establish their own websites.
