Academics find textbook way to get role in new alien invasion movie

When Rockhampton-based nursing academics Dr Kerry Reid-Searl, Associate Professor Lorna Moxham and Dr Trudy Dwyer prepared their Student Nurse Maths and Medication Survival Guide, they had no idea it would one day feature in a major international movie.

They are quite chuffed since their UK publisher Pearson Education was approached recently by the producers of Attack the Block, promoted as a fast, funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters.

The producers, also behind the hit movies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, are keen to use the textbook as 'set dressing' for the new movie, which features a trainee nurse character.
