Language competition winner visits CQU Brisbane

Queensland Cup English language competition winner Kang Liting (Shirley) visited CQU Brisbane International Campus from August 14-21 as part of her prize won in China.

Excelling among more than 100 competition entrants (winning 3 rounds of competitions in Shanghai including a written test, speech and a debate), Shirley came to CQU with a high level of English ability.

Also, the teaching methods at CQU were a lot different than in Shanghai as there were a lot of discussions and interaction in the classes.

Shirley stayed with a homestay family (Jennifer Liley from Postgraduate Programs) while in Brisbane and got to experience the real Australian lifestyle. She went to the Brisbane Ekka and also enjoyed a welcome luncheon from the Premier.

Meanwhile, Ms Liley also provided program information and a campus tour for Zhu Haiwen from Shanghai Education (Association for International Exchange), who coordinated the Queensland Cup visit.

The fourth Queensland Cup University Students English Competition was held in Shanghai in April this year.

Nine students from several top Shanghai universities were winners of the competition this year. They received a scholarship, enabling them to visit Queensland and spend 3 weeks studying English at participating universities.
