Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQU Honours Region's Educators 

Central Queensland University will honour the region’s educators at a public lecture in Rockhampton on Friday to launch Education Week.

CQU Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Glenice Hancock said the University wanted to honour the region’s educators for building opportunities for students year after year.

PhotoID:768 Guest speakers at the public lecture will be Acting Director of Queensland Studies Authority Peter Luxton, who will speak on the Facts about OPs, and Director of the Board of Teacher Registration Graeme Hall, who will address Teacher Registration as an Educational Partnership.

Mr Luxton was appointed to his position in August last year, after gathering expertise in the area of curriculum from his positions with the Curriculum Innovation Branch of Education Queensland and as Principal Executive Officer (Curriculum Implementation) in the office of the Deputy Director-General.

An experienced teacher, former school principal and former board member, Mr Hall has brought to his new role an intimate knowledge of the board’s work and a keen appreciation of the support provided by the board’s Office. He was appointed to his position in October last year.

Members of the public are welcome at the Education Week lecture from 6pm on Friday, May 16, in the Creative Arts Building (5 G.02) at CQU Rockhampton. Entry is free of charge. Details are on 4923 2507.
