Last Thursday and Friday, over 1000 youngsters and their favourite teddy bears put on their best pajamas and participated in one of 6 sold-out musical pajama parties at the Central Queensland Conservatorium of Music (CQCM).

The Pajama Party is a 40-minute comic play/opera written by CQCM students and their lecturer, Kim Kirkman.

The aim of the play is to introduce and encourage children from pre-school to year 2 to explore and discover music and musical instruments.

"The show allows youngsters to get up close and personal with orchestral and rock music instruments and singers and allows them to explore music instruments freely," said Mr Kirkman 

The ensemble was put together after a similar successful production last year.

"It's been so successful that teachers requested that we do the same this year," said Mr Kirkman. 

"It's not part of the student's academic commitments at CQCM but rather a chance for the students to gain more experience and give something back to the community," commented Kim. 

Children will be encouraged to participate in the show throughout the performance and invited to ‘meet the instruments' at the conclusion of the performance. 

Show times are: Thursday and Friday at 10am, 11.30am and 1pm.
