Former CQU student Kanwarjeet SinghFriends and family of former Central Queensland University student Kanwarjeet Singh are seeking donations so he can receive potentially life-saving treatment in the United States.
The 26-year-old is suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, a form of blood cancer, and needs a particular bone marrow transplant that in not available in his home country of India. He will have to travel to the US for the procedure.
At a cost of $500,000, his family is now hoping for donations to help cover the expensive treatment.
Kanwarjeet began studying his Masters of Accounting at CQU Melbourne in 2005, but in 2006 while back in India to be married, he fell ill and was later diagnosed with the condition.
After 3 rounds of chemotherapy failed, a bone marrow transplant was suggested. But with no family with matching bone marrow, he will have to undertake unmatched bone marrow therapy available in the US.
Financial donations are being accepted via the website http://www.helpkanwarjeet.org/ .
