Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

VIPs due for CQU Emerald official opening 

Community and university leaders will attend next week’s official opening of the new CQU Emerald Campus, from 6pm on Wednesday, March 2.

The campus has moved from its shared facility at the Central Highlands TAFE and is now located at the Emerald Agricultural College on the Capricorn Highway.

The official opening coincides with CQU’s Orientation Week for new and continuing students.

Guests at the event include Emerald Shire Mayor Peter Maguire, Federal Member for Maranoa Hon Bruce Scott, Acting Chancellor Charles Ware, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & Research) Professor Jim Mienczakowski and Emerald Campus coordinator Pat Moran.

The event will start with entertainment from the Marist College Jazz Band and will conclude with a barbecue dinner.
