Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

CQUni Taipans Academy honours high achievers 

The CQUniversity Taipans Academy this week recognised its 14 athletes upon completion of the 2012/13 program at its annual awards dinner.

The athletes were joined by coaching staff, parents, media, sponsors and a VIP guest, Skytrans Cairns Taipans rookie guard Cameron Gliddon.

The Academy returned in 2012 after a three-year hiatus, thanks to the support of naming rights sponsor, CQUniversity.

In recognition of the program's renewal and the achievements of academy graduates, the three major awards were renamed to:

CQUni Most Improved Player (for demonstrating the most significant improvement in the Academy program): JUSTIN SOLEIMANI

Aaron Fearne Award (presented to the athlete that best exemplifies the Taipans culture): AARON BIN TAHAL

Aron Baynes Award (presented to the most outstanding athlete in the Academy program): SHAUN BRUCE
