CQU Mackay Film Festival attracts strong support

About 250 people attended Central Queensland University Mackay Library Society’s inaugural Film Festival at the weekend.
Italian film ‘Malena’ opened the wide-screen event on Friday night, which included a supper after the screening.
Library Society president Wendy O’Brien said the vast selection of art-house and foreign films proved popular.
“Some of the audience members returned to watch a number of the films, so the festival was a great opportunity to view films which may not hit the mainstream movie theatres,” she said.
Dr O’Brien believed crowd numbers supported the need for another festival to be held next year.
