Graduates present 'One Act Nights'
Published on 14 May, 2008
Recent CQU graduates Tamara Anderson and Tony Doak are the creative forces behind a new production in Rockhampton - One Act Nights.
The pair are the faces of 'Rocky Road tours in association with Encompass Art Productions', which is presenting the series of One Act plays at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre, from 6.30pm-9.30pm on both Friday May 30 and Saturday May 31.
The production also has the support of the Rockhampton Regional Council, RADF and Arts Queensland.
The performances include 6 short skits that demonstrate the acting talent in Rockhampton, varying from locally-written drama pieces, to a Shakespearian monologue, an absurdist piece, to a comical Chaplinesque skit.
In the second half of the evening, Ken Cotterill's Logies is a short 3-act play about a group of TV celebrities whose lives get a dramatic, yet comical change starting with the events that occur at the Logies.
As well as local performers and playwrights being in the spotlight, Encompass Art Productions is making this night exciting by incorporating local bands from the Central Queensland region to provide the productions' soundtrack. The band's albums will also be for sale on the night.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for concession and $5 for children under 10. For those wishing to attend a night of laughter, drama and smooth tunes, bookings can be made through Rockhampton Health Options at 71 Main Street, or tickets can be purchased at the door.
