VC stars in teaching video

It'll be a teaching video with a difference! Our Vice-Chancellor plays the part of a hospital doctor and a female nursing academic plays the part of an elderly male patient.

VC Professor Scott Bowman was happy to try out his acting skills for the teaching resource being prepared for our first-year undergraduates studying Foundations of Nursing Practice.

Nursing academic Dr Kerry Reid-Seal donned one of her specially-crafted masks to portray the elderly 'Cyril Smith', who has undergone significant bowel surgery and has to manage a stoma (an artificially created hole in the abdomen so that faeces can still leave the body).

Kerry reports the VC was a fantastic actor but maybe he has a natural bedside manner.

This new resource will add to a developing suite of video learning tools for nursing students.
