OHS Students Awarded Free Attendance at Health & Safety Conference

Occupational Health & Safety 3rd year students, Damon Clarke and Greg May have been selected to represent the program, the School of Health & Human Performance, the James Goldston Faculty of Engineering & Physical Systems and Central Queensland University at the 2005 Qld Mining Industry Health Safety Conference through the generous donation of 2 sponsorship packages from Roche Mining.

The conference focuses on health and safety issues in the Qld mining industry and will be held at Jupiters Townsville Hotel and Casino from 14 – 17 August 2005.

Damon and Greg will represent the OHS student and staff crew, with the aim of the student sponsorship is to promote an understanding of health and safety issues within new graduates before they enter the mining workforce so they can help the long term improvement of health and safety in our mining industry.

Damon and Greg’s sponsorship will include a return economy airfare, free registration for the conference and free twin share accommodation at the conference venue – including meals.

Congratulations Damon and Greg - we know you will represent our School and CQU to the best of your ability. Congratulations also to Shannon Selffe who will be the first replacement, should either Damon or Greg be unable to attend. This is particularly wonderful for Shannon, who is only in her 2nd year of OHS study.
