Free Robotics Challenge in Bundy for year 8-10 students
Published on 20 November, 2009
Following the success of the primary school TREK robotics challenge earlier in the year, a competition for secondary students has been developed.
Hosted by CQUniversity Bundaberg and run by learning management staff and students, this event is a great way for students to get involved in extracurricular activities.
Robotics Challenge project manager Shontelle Lewis
The event will be held from 9am-2pm on Saturday, December 5, and entry is FREE!
Students must register in teams of 3 (attendance to the previous workshops is not a prerequisite for entry into the competition).
The TREK robotics challenge is designed especially for students in years 8-10 and will consist of 3 challenges. For each challenge, the teams will be broken into 2 categories; the 'regular' challenge and the 'advanced' challenge - which is for more experienced teams.
The best team for each category, in each challenge, will be awarded a prize pack at the end of the day. Each team will have use of 1 NXT Robotic kit and 1 laptop computer to use throughout the challenges.
Bachelor of Learning Management (Primary & Secondary) students involved in the TREK/Primary robotics project are also involved in this Secondary challenge, and are designing and running the challenge on the day.
Rosie Thrupp (Lecturer, School of Learning & Innovation) is the project co-ordinator, and Shontelle Lewis (Student, Bachelor of Learning Management - Primary) is the overall project manager.
Please call June Mogensen on (07) 4150 7046 to register teams.
