CQU achieves top honours for graduate satisfaction; National universities guide awards 5 stars

The Good Universities Guide 2003 is out and Central Queensland University (CQU) gets first-class ratings in four areas that help potential students across Australia determine the right University, the right campus and the right course.

Editors, noting that CQU "rates well in the eyes of graduates", gave CQU five stars -- the highest rating -- for its Education Experience, up one star from last year. That means CQU graduates are rating their courses for overall satisfaction and teaching quality higher than graduates in similar fields in 80 percent of other universities throughout the country.

PhotoID:147 "We're extremely proud of these results. They strengthen Central Queensland University's reputation as a leading provider of education. They reflect the dedication and professionalism of our staff and challenge us to strive for even better results next year," said Vice Chancellor and President Glenice Hancock Five star ratings were also achieved in the categories of Graduate Starting Salary, Cultural Diversity, and Non-government earnings. Graduate starting salaries were higher for CQU graduates than for other Queensland universities, placing CQU in the top 20% of all universities. CQU is the only Queensland University to achieve a top rating for both graduate starting salaries and cultural diversity. Receiving top ranking for non-government earnings indicates a substantial amount of operating revenue is derived from research contracts, donations, investments, and fees.

PhotoID:148 "I am particularly pleased that our rating has started to climb in Research," said Professor Hancock "although we still have much more room for improvement in this area." Central Queensland University campuses attained four and five star ratings for the academic services provided and for the electronic support available to students.

The university, recently presented with the Premier of Queensland Export Award for Education, also received the highest rating for its international enrolments. Half of CQU's 19,000 students are international students who are from more than 45 countries.
