CQU Building Has $1.35m Refurbishment

Stage one of refurbishments to Central Queensland University's Bruce Hiskins building at the Rockhampton campus has been completed. Costing $1.35 million, the building which houses the CQU Library, now provides new storage areas that has allowed one-third of the print collections in the building to be moved to a "closed access" area.
This restructure has increased student seats on the upper floors, increased electronic access to resources for students and has permitted the heavily-used material to be spread out to allow better air circulation and wheelchair access.
The new reading room on the ground floor houses newspapers, new serials and new books in a relaxed environment. Coffee and light refreshments are available in this area.
Architect Paul Cruice has provided the 'master' plan for the refurbishment of the building, including the addition of windows into existing sculptured panels.
Refurbishments are planned to continue over the next few years.
