Primary school students explore science in Rocky
Published on 05 April, 2006
About 80 Year 2 and 3 students from St Joseph's School Park Avenue explored the life of a scientist during a visit to Central Queensland University Rockhampton.
This was the first time the students had visited the campus.
The students toured the fish breeding facilities, looked at insects and had fun with finger printing.
Involved in the tour was Dr Bob Newby, Professor Graham Pegg and Graeme Boyle.
The tour complimented the class' current theme: Scientists at Work.
The school teachers wanted the students to find out what scientists do, what they wear, what equipment they used and what different scientists there are.
