Local musos showcase repertoire at the Fair

Music lovers will experience performances by some of the regions best local musicians at this year’s CQU Multicultural Fair and Open Day this Sunday.

A designated band stage will operate near the engineering buildings, behind the food outlets, from 10am to 4pm.

First to perform at 10am will be an originals only band titled On Liberty. Comprising Paul Stephenson (guitar), Glen Mallory (vocals), James Joice (bass) and Adam (drums), the band has recently received a grant to help them record an EP, which may help them break them into Australia’s highly competitive music industry.

They have played at venues such as The Criterion, Glenmore Tavern, O'Dowds, Bartletts, The Strand (Yeppoon), The Vic, The Post Office and Rocky\'s Tavern.

Formerly known as Guilty by Association, the newly titled The Short Fall is up next, entertaining the lunchtime crowd from midday. Vinnie Kemp (guitar and vocals), Angelo Conway (vocals and guitar), Ben Wilson (bass and vocals) & Andrew Hotham (drums) will perform a range of covers and originals. They also have an upcoming EP - so watch out for it.

Next up will be VEGA at 1.15pm. Then keen to perform another soulful acoustic set at 2.15pm will be Vinnie Kemp, singer and guitarist from The Short Fall. Vinnie has a number of years experience gigging around Central Queensland and is finding his own unique acoustic style.

Pat is a young local blues musician who has taken his influences from Australian Blues and Roots performers including Ash Grunwald, Xavier Rudd and John Butler. He has created riff driven grooves of his own and accompanies himself on slide-guitar, cajon and didgeridoo.
