Interested individuals and organisations can help shape the next survey of Central Queenslanders' opinions and lifestyles.

Central Queensland University's Centre for Social Science Research is set to undertake the 6th annual Central Queensland Social Survey (CQSS) in October and is open to requests from organisations and individuals to join the survey with their own survey questions.

The computer-assisted phone survey was initiated by Professor Kerry Mummery in 1999 and is conducted by the Population Research Laboratory at CQU in Rockhampton.

The unique survey targets 1200 – 1500 randomly selected households in Central Queensland, an area which extends north to Mackay, south to Bundaberg and west to the NT border.

The Central Queensland Social Survey seeks respondents’ attitudes towards issues such as health, quality of life and changing lifestyles, tourism and education.

Interested academic researchers, government departments and non-profit organisations as well as researchers from the private sector should contact Lindsay Greer (07 4930 6335 – l.greer@cqu.edu.au) or Yvonne Holbeck (07 4930 6401 – y.holbeck@cqu.edu.au) before September 10 for details of the special rates being offered this year.

The Population Research Laboratory is able to conduct surveys anywhere within Australia.
