Engaging Indigenous people within Higher Ed

CQUniversity's Office of Indigenous Engagement recently hosted a visit from the Oodgeroo Unit of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), at Rockhampton Campus.

Professor Anita Lee Hong, Director of the Oodgeroo Unit, and Lone Pearce, Project Officer, met with Office of Indigenous Engagement staff to discuss employment issues and best practice models for engaging Indigenous people within the higher education sector, including governance matters.

Brisbane and Gold Coast high achievers awarded 

Four high-achieving students from CQU's Brisbane and Gold Coast international campuses have been awarded the prestigious Directors’ Leadership Awards.

These awards recognise students who excel academically, demonstrate leadership ability, and are involved in extra-curricular and community activities.

PhotoID:3345 With more than 147 students eligible, Anurag Roy, Masato Matsukawa, Ruijuan Chen and Gurinder Singh were awarded for their outstanding performance in the Faculty of Business and Informatics.

Anurag Roy (pictured bottom right) is also one of the select few students who has been recognised as the highest achiever in the Faculty for 3 consecutive semesters.

He has recently secured a graduate position with one of the largest global professional services firms, BDO Kendalls.

Masato Matsukawa (pictured top right) from the Gold Coast campus was recognized for his strong academic ability in the Master of Information Technology. His dedication, teamwork and positive attitude ensured him of being presented with the Leadership Award.

Jennifer Liley, Head of Postgraduate Programs, described Ruijuan Chen as a conscientious, intelligent and academically gifted student. Ms Chen (pictured top left) graduated from a Bachelor of Information Technology.

Gurinder Sing (pictured bottom left) has been actively involved with the CQU student population as a student mentor and a student committee member. He graduated from a Bachelor of Business Accounting with outstanding academic performance.

PhotoID:3346 Meanwhile, Dr Graham Davidson's appointment as Emeritus Professor was recognised at the recent CQU Brisbane Graduation Ceremony.

Dr Davidson (pictured with Chancellor Rennie Fritschy) has a long and distinguished record including developing the psychology discipline within Central Queensland University and donating his time to many professional organisations.

He has made a significant contribution to research, producing 5 co-authored and edited books, 18 refereed chapters and 52 journal articles.
