Brisbane lecturer awarded learning and teaching award

CQUniversity Brisbane Campus Lecturer Dr Mary Tom has been awarded the Deputy Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (Tier 2) for 2010.
Mary won the award for the development and sustained use of a new teaching method that transforms the learning of computer programming into a more engaging, less daunting and less stressful experience.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Ken Hawkins said Mary demonstrated a commitment to the scholarship of teaching, both with her publication in the field, as well as within the classroom.
"She has clearly worked hard to improve and refine her teaching model over the years, culminating in her development of the 5 C model.
"Mary has the support of both campus management and her peers and has also been lauded by colleagues from other campuses.
"Finally, she demonstrates strong positive comments from student and has a detailed and considered view of her philosophy to teaching."
