Queensland's first Festival of Innovation hits CQU Mackay

Central Queensland University Mackay hosted Queensland’s first Festival of Innovation on Wednesday.
Representatives from AusIndustry, Mackay Whitsunday Regional Economic Development Corporation (MWREDC) and various innovative agencies offered advice to businesses interested in emerging technologies.
CQU Mackay Head of Campus and MWREDC Chair, Associate Professor Phillip Clift said the event highlighted the types of assistance available to up-and-coming businesses, while allowing local companies to display their innovative ideas.
“This was a fantastic introduction for those considering developing an innovative product or for businesses currently selling a unique product,” he said.
“Exhibitors and presenters gave the Mackay business community an opportunity to explore the range of incentives available for Australian business to promote investment and become more innovative and competitive.”.
“Various presentations outlined strategies for starting a business through to offering advice that related to incentives for investing in Queensland initiatives.”.
About 100 people attended the presentations that related to research and development, patenting, venture capital, commercialisation, tax relief, business development, investment pitches and intellectual property.
